Bella Rossa: A Writer's Blog

I started writing Bella Rossa in February 2005 as an exercise to write regularly. I was still living in my small hometown in Indiana at the time, nurturing dreams of moving to Chicago to pursue writing and comedy. At first I blogged with total anonymity -- no real name, no photos.

Things changed. I moved to Chicago. And I chronicled my experience - moving, settling in, adjusting to urban life, exploring the comedy scene, beginning the writing program at Second City. I began putting up photos. I started picking up regular readers, and getting lots of cool feedback and response. The blog grew. I began videoblogging. The Bastion landed on my doorstep. I started working as a writer and doing stand-up. I began producing Chicago Underground Comedy, and making films and radio content. And so it goes.

Bella Rossa: A Writer's Blog was called "engaging" by Chicago Magazine, was noted in Columbia Journalism Review's CJRDaily, has been called "very well-written" by Gapers Block, and earned attention and praise from Centerstage Chicago, who interviewed me as part of a series on "hip Chicago bloggers."
